The Sky Does Not Need To Be Blue
30 x 30 in. Oil on panel. 2020.
This piece is about waking up to your surroundings; about realizing you’ve been living in a pink cloud. It’s about the moment you see the last trappings and delights of the fairytales you were spoon fed as an adolescent, slip away. The clouds that surround you now are ones of billowing smoke. What you do next will define you. Will you focus or flounder? Will you sink or will you rise? Will you turn your head or will you raise your voice? Will you run to escape or stay and fight for a magic in which you used to believe?
For me… the truth is all of the above and everything is between.
Above all this painting is a whispering plea to the collective humanity for clarity and change, before it all burns away.
